Message from the President of the
Culver City Police Officers' Association
Hello and thank you for visiting our web site. The men and women of the Culver City Police Department are committed to providing the citizens and business owners in Culver City with the best service possible. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere where the citizens and business owners are and feel safe.
The Culver City Police Department has a stringent hiring process and only hires the best candidates. After completing the Police Academy, the officer's training continues as they are assigned to hand-picked Field Training Officers. However, the training never ends. Police Officers routinely attend training classes to keep them updated on the latest investigative techniques, laws and court decisions, search and seizure, defensive driving, drug trends and self defense tactics to name just a few.
Although Police Officers are not perfect (yes, we are human, have families and deal with life's stresses just like you) we strive for perfection. Your Police Officers are not lazy or uncaring. We take pride in serving Culver City and we strive to keep criminals out of the City or in jail to keep you safe. Rest assured that when you are sleeping in your homes, or working or visiting, your Police Officers are hard at work keeping you safe.
However, we can not be totally successful alone. We realize that we could not be as effective as we are without the cooperation and support we receive from the citizens and business owners we serve. It is imperative that we continue to build on those relationships to ensure the highest quality of life possible in Culver City.
Your Police Officers truly believe that we are one of the best Police Departments in Southern California. Understanding how and why we perform our duties will enhance the support we receive from the public. We have several programs available to provide this valuable information, such as the Citizen's Police Academy, Neighborhood Watch, and Volunteers in Patrol (VIP). Another very successful program is Juvenile Diversion, which focuses on our youth and directing them in the right direction.
On behalf of the Culver City Police Officer's Association I want to thank you for your support and for visiting our web site. And remember that a friendly smile and wave goes a long way in letting your Police Officers know that they are appreciated.
Rick Nielsen
POA President
